 نَّا لِلَّٰهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ
HAJE is deeply saddened on the passing of our beloved sister Ainy Mohammed Harun. We are falling short to express our deepest sorrow as her tragic passing came as a tremendous shock to all of us.
Ainy’s loss cuts deeper because she was an inspiration and positive essence to many Harari Women..
The out pouring of condolences and tributes from hundreds of Toronto Hararis since Ainy’s passing on September 01/22 goes to testify the wider reach of Ainy Mohammed Harun’s influence.
For those of us who had the opportunity to know her and worked with her as a Board Member of Harari Community Of Ontario, Toronto Women’ Council, HAJE’s Toronto Regional Member and even as close friend , being in her company is remembered as a lesson in humility, harmony, warmth coupled with a welcoming smile’ and taking a clear stand for Harari Cause !
In her career, Ainy was an accomplished Librarian working at Toronto Reference Library, one of the largest Library in Canada, until she retired in early 2022, Ainy was also a member of CUPE local 4948.
Ainy had a very enviable and successful private life, supporting her family in a very meaningful way financially and morally.
Ainy will always be remembered as an incredible Harari sister who cared for her family and community, her commitment to make a difference, her long years of service and activism will not be forgotten!
We all pray for her peaceful eternal rest; and for her family, relatives and indeed for all of us to have the fortitude to bear this immense loss.
